We treat the ashes of your loved one with the utmost care and dignity. All unused ashes are returned to you with your completed Photogem.
When ashes are set they really do look like ash set behind glass. Don't be fooled by some of the other pretty memorial jewellery options out there. Though they are beautiful, they are not in my opinion authentic! Real human ash looks just like you imagine ash to be. It is not glittery or colourful. Photogem memorial jewellery is truly authentic and your loved ones ashes are set just as they were received.
A lock of Hair on the other hand has to be moulded to create a curl that will fit inside a Photogem besel. As you can imagine this can be very fiddly and can take a lot of patience and time. Please allow 3 weeks for your Photogem to be completed.
History of Mourning Jewellery
Mourning jewelry in Western European (and later, American) culture dates back to the 16th century but gained huge popularity in the mid- 19th century when Queen Victoria mourned the death of her beloved Prince Albert.

How to order
Please take a look at the Photogem Collection page. Select your Photogem and click the option Memorial. To complete an order with ashes or hair please go to the upload page in the menu and complete your information along with your order reference number. Select Memorial

Sending ashes or hair
Once an order is received you will be sent a tiny container for you to return ashes or hair. We only need a tiny amount of ash about the size of a teaspoon or a lock of hair.

Completion
Once your ashes or hair are received here at Photogem, the process of creating your memorial jewellery will begin. Your items are treated with the utmost care and dignity and any that are left will be returned to you with your competed Photogem order.

Care
Always treat your Photogem with care. Never leave it in bright sunlight for long periods of time. They do not like oils. Please try not to get moisturisers on your Photogem as the glass like surface may become cloudy and textured. Also do not leave on a high heated surface.
